key changes

.

Key Changes is a programme of music activities for people whose lives are affected by mental health issues. It includes workshops in music making, production and performance, song-writing, singing, DJing, rhyming and dance, and volunteering opportunities for people interested in learning new skills in leading music workshops and music mentoring.

Research shows that music can play a valuable role in recovery from mental illness. It stimulates emotional, aesthetic and spiritual responses, develops physical, mental and social skills, improves expression, communication and confidence, and can facilitate positive changes in behaviour and wellbeing.

Key Changes is produced by Islington Music Forum, an independent charity established in 1999 which also provides in-patient music activities in hospitals currently including Highgate Mental Health Centre and City and Hackney Centre for Mental Health.
